According to the latest report of the European Statistical Office, Croatia's net renewable energy power generation in the first quarter of this year ranked among the top in the EU, reaching 77.3%. Only Denmark (88.5%) and Portugal (86.6%) have a higher proportion of renewable energy than Croatia. This is mainly due to the huge proportion of hydropower in Croatia's domestic energy structure.
However, the proportion of renewable energy power generation in the EU has declined. In the first three months of this year, renewable energy accounted for 42.5% of the EU's net power generation, a year-on-year decrease of 4.3%, mainly due to a sharp decline in hydropower and wind power production, which shows that the EU has structural defects that need to be systematically addressed.
