The G20 Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Sustainability was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 3rd. The meeting discussed in depth issues such as global biodiversity conservation, climate change response, marine protection, waste and circular economy.
Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, led the Chinese delegation composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to attend the meeting and delivered a speech. China pointed out that over the past decade, China has accelerated the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, promoted the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and has become the country with the fastest improvement in air quality, the largest increase in forest resources, the fastest reduction in energy intensity, and the largest scale of renewable energy utilization in the world. China adheres to the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, puts forward global development initiatives, promotes the achievement of the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework", and works with all parties to promote the "UAE Consensus" at the United Nations Climate Change Dubai Conference. It actively and constructively participates in the negotiation process of the Global Plastics Convention, and has made Chinese contributions to global environmental and climate governance and put forward Chinese solutions.
The G20 Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate has become an important platform for G20 countries to jointly seek environmental and climate governance and discuss responses to global challenges. China calls on all parties to give full play to the platform role of the Ministerial Meeting, share experiences in ecological environmental protection and green and low-carbon transformation under the framework of the Global Development Initiative, deepen practical cooperation on sustainable development, and contribute "G20 power" to address global ecological environmental and climate challenges and promote stronger, greener and healthier global development.
During the meeting, China held bilateral talks and exchanges with environmental and climate ministerial representatives from Brazil, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and other G20 chair countries.
