Ammonia Slip Catalyst

The ASC catalyst, or Ammonia Slip Catalyst, is an important component of the exhaust aftertreatment device of diesel vehicles. It is installed at the rear end of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, and its main function is to reduce the emission of ammonia (NH₃) in the exhaust gas at the rear end of the SCR.

Ammonia is usually used as a reducing agent in the SCR system to react with nitrogen oxides (NO_x) to produce nitrogen (N₂) and water vapor (H₂O), thereby reducing harmful substances in the exhaust gas. However, if too much urea is injected, the incompletely reacted ammonia will be discharged into the atmosphere with the exhaust gas, causing secondary pollution. The ASC catalyst converts these excess ammonia into nitrogen or other harmless substances through catalytic oxidation, thereby reducing environmental pollution.

The working principle of the ASC catalyst involves oxidizing excess ammonia into nitrogen (N₂), nitrous oxide (N₂O) or nitrogen oxides (NO_x), while catalyzing the reaction of NO_x and NH₃ to produce nitrogen (N₂). This process helps maintain the efficiency of the SCR system and reduce ammonia emissions.

Mainly used in fields such as automobile exhaust treatment and industrial wastewater treatment. In terms of automobile exhaust treatment, ASC catalysts can effectively convert ammonia (NH₃) in exhaust into nitrogen (N₂), thereby reducing the emission of harmful substances in exhaust, which is of great significance for improving air quality and protecting the ecological environment.
