Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) is a device installed in the diesel engine emission system. It is an exhaust gas purification unit that uses ceramic or metal as a carrier and loads active components such as rare earth, precious metals or metal oxides. Its main function is to convert harmful substances emitted after diesel combustion into less harmful substances through catalytic reactions. Specifically, DOC can oxidize carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and some sulfur oxides (SOF), converting these emissions into carbon dioxide (CO2), water (H2O) and sulfates(SOx).

The conversion efficiency of DOC catalyst for different pollutants is approximately: 70-90% for carbon monoxide (CO), 60-80% for hydrocarbons (HC), and 40-50% for sulfur oxides (SOF). The combined use of DOC and DPF can bring out the advantages of each technology while overcoming the limitations of a single technology. DOC helps to increase the exhaust temperature through catalytic oxidation, providing the necessary heat for the regeneration of DPF, thereby maintaining the filtration efficiency of DPF and preventing the accumulation of particulate matter. The regeneration process of DPF can be carried out in two ways: passive regeneration and active regeneration. Passive regeneration uses the heat in the exhaust gas and NO2 as an oxidant at a lower temperature, while active regeneration requires the internal temperature of DPF to be increased by fuel injection or other external heating means to ensure the complete combustion of particulate matter.

Specific application scenarios:

 

Diesel vehicle exhaust treatment: DOC catalyst is a key component in the exhaust aftertreatment system of diesel vehicles, which helps to meet increasingly stringent emission regulations.

Non-road mobile machinery exhaust treatment: Rare earth catalysts are also used in the exhaust treatment of non-road mobile machinery to reduce the concentration of pollutants in engine exhaust.

Industrial waste gas treatment: Although DOC catalysts are mainly used for automobile exhaust treatment, their principles and technologies can also be extended to certain industrial waste gas treatment applications to reduce the emission of specific pollutants.
