The SCR soot blowing system is an important component of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) denitrification technology. SCR technology is one of the most widely used flue gas denitrification technologies, mainly used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions generated in industrial processes. In the SCR system, the flue gas first passes through the catalyst bed. Under the action of the catalyst, ammonia or urea acts as a reducing agent to reduce NOx into nitrogen (N2) and water vapor (H2O). However, during this process, the catalyst bed may accumulate dust and other impurities, which will reduce the activity of the catalyst and affect the denitrification efficiency. Therefore, the role of the SCR soot blowing system is to regularly clean the ash on the catalyst bed to maintain the efficient working state of the catalyst.

 

The SCR denitrification reactor soot blower can be used to remove dust from the reactor inlet and outlet, catalyst surface or internal steel component surface, extending the activity and service life of the catalyst in the SCR, while reducing the pressure resistance in the system, removing the impact of excessive fluctuations in fly ash on subsequent dust collectors, and reducing annual maintenance manpower and material costs, shortening production downtime, and extending the boiler operation cycle.

 

SCR sootblowing system usually includes sootblower and sootblower fan. Sootblower can be of different types such as sonic sootblower, steam sootblower or compressed air sootblower. These sootblower can deliver high-speed airflow or steam to the catalyst bed to remove the accumulated soot from the catalyst surface and then carry it away through the flue gas.

Application scenarios of SCR sootblowing system:

 

SCR sootblowing system is widely used in various industrial fields, especially in thermal power plants, cement plants and waste incineration plants where a large amount of NOx emissions are generated. For example, in the SCR denitration transformation of cement kilns, due to the presence of a large amount of alkaline earth metal CaO in the flue gas, it is easy to form ash bridging and blockage on the catalyst surface, accelerating the wear and poisoning of the catalyst. Therefore, setting up an effective sootblowing method is the key to ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the SCR denitration system.

 

The current mainstream SCR denitration cleaning process is sonic sootblower, steam sootblower and sonic + steam sootblower. At present, the sonic sootblower cleaning process is mainly used for small and medium-sized boilers. Most of the units above 200MW use sonic + steam sootblower. Some special industries, such as glass furnaces with high ash viscosity in the flue gas, only use steam sootblower.
