Algeria's 1,100 MW Green Power Will Be Connected To The Grid in The First Half Of The Year

The Afghan Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy announced that the first phase of the national electricity production plan will be connected to the grid by June 30, 2026, with an initial installed capacity of 1,100 MW, bringing the total planned capacity of 3,200 MW to cover multiple regions across the country.

The ultimate goal of this "project of the century" is to achieve 15,000 MW of green power generation capacity, making renewable energy the core of the national energy structure. This will not only ensure domestic power security but also create conditions for future electricity exports to neighboring countries.

Concurrently, Ajarl initiated the construction of a 220/60 kV substation in Tipasa province to meet electricity demand over the next five years and support industrial, agricultural, and investment projects. Afghanistan will also deploy mobile substations to cope with peak summer electricity demand and continue to advance research into solar, wind, hydropower, and green hydrogen to improve its diversified energy system.
