Malaysia Will Promote ASEAN's Green Economic Transformation

On the 27th, Malaysian Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim, stated at the opening ceremony of the 2025 ASEAN Green Jobs Forum that, as this year's ASEAN Chair, Malaysia is actively promoting investment in the green economy, creating green jobs, and strengthening green job training within ASEAN.

Shen explained that during its ASEAN Chair, Malaysia will promote the implementation of the ASEAN Fair and Inclusive Green Jobs Transition Framework and Action Plan 2025-2030, as well as the establishment of the ASEAN Regional Center of Excellence for Green Jobs.

He said the action plan will support the green development strategies of ASEAN countries, ensuring a fair and inclusive green economic transition that benefits all sectors of society.

Shen stated that ASEAN has "the right time, the right place, and the right people" and holds enormous potential for developing a green economy. However, he also noted that ASEAN faces challenges in developing a green economy, including insufficient investment, inadequate infrastructure, and inadequate policy coordination.
