Singapore Changi Airport Trials Renewable Diesel

Singapore's Changi Airport Group has launched a renewable diesel trial, converting waste oil collected from airport food and beverage operators into renewable diesel. Initially, the trial will be used on heavy equipment such as runway vacuums and aircraft tire rubber residue removal vehicles.

The trial program began in May of this year and entered its second phase in mid-August. The participating vehicles will transition from 50% renewable diesel to 100% renewable diesel, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% over the fuel's lifecycle.

Changi Airport Group Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability, Huang Weiming, stated that the heavy-duty vehicles participating in the trial operated stably and without compromising efficiency while using 50% renewable diesel. Changi Airport Group has drawn on the experience of airports in Sweden, Finland, Rome, and London Heathrow, and is also sharing its application with Hong Kong International Airport.
