The industrial association of Morang in southeastern Nepal issued a statement today, calling on the Nepal Electricity Board to pay attention to the current situation of 8 to 10 hours of power outages every day in industrial corridors such as Sunsari-Morang, Biratnagar-Rani, and Biratnagar-Kathahari, and asked the power board to arrange regular and stable power supply.
The association said that private enterprises feel neglected and oppressed by the Nepal Electricity Board, believing that it does not take seriously the real problems faced by industry and commerce. Each power outage was not notified in advance, normal production operations were disrupted, and enterprises were forced to reduce production, losing up to millions of rupees every day. The lack of rain in recent days, low domestic power generation, and continued increase in electricity prices have brought a double blow.
The association pointed out that it has repeatedly drawn the attention of the power board to the above situation. It was originally expected that the new leadership of the power board would pay attention to and improve the stability of power supply, but the agency has little interest in this and is too focused on profit and loss.
