Curacao's Power Infrastructure And Electricity Prices

Aqualectra signed an agreement with Wärtsilä (Finland's power systems company) in early 2025. The agreement covers ongoing maintenance provisions for its energy management system (EMS) and battery energy storage system (BESS). The two companies have collaborated for 27 years, with Wärtsilä having built several energy plants for Aqualectra, including projects in 2015 and 2019. With the recently signed EMS and BESS agreements, the two companies are now working together to build Aqualectra's new diesel power plant.

 

Electricity prices are tiered, with households using less than or equal to 250 kWh paying the lowest rate of 0.5454 florins/kWh; those between 250 and 350 kWh paying 0.6517 florins/kWh; and those above 350 kWh paying 0.6959 florins/kWh.

 

Commercial electricity consumption is 0.6551 florins/kWh; industrial standard electricity consumption is 0.5554 florins/kWh during peak period and 0.5499 florins/kWh during off-peak period; export industrial electricity consumption is 0.4255 florins/kWh during peak period and 0.4201 florins/kWh during off-peak period; imported industrial electricity consumption: 0.4902 florins/kWh during peak period and 0.4844 florins/kWh during off-peak period; hospital electricity consumption: 0.4021 florins/kWh during peak period and 0.3872 florins/kWh during off-peak period.
