French Development Agency To Invest Around 18 Billion Euros in Climate

The French Development Agency (AFD) recently held a press conference in Paris, announcing that it will invest at least €6 billion annually in climate efforts and €800 million annually in biodiversity between 2025 and 2027, strengthening its commitment to financing the ecological transition.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the AFD released its "Earth 2025-2030 Roadmap" that day, which outlines four key commitments: financing the structural transformation of its partners, supporting transitional pathways to sustainable development, amplifying the impact of its actions by mobilizing all parties, and adjusting its internal operations to strengthen accountability.

In a press release, the AFD stated that through this roadmap, the agency places environmental issues at the heart of its actions, integrating them with its goals of poverty reduction, narrowing inequalities, and promoting economic transformation. Its framework for action will be aligned with the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
