On September 13th, Tehran Times reported that Iran's Commercial Counsellor in Kazakhstan, Pabalja, stated that although Kazakhstan has launched multiple petrochemical projects in recent years, its production has not yet met domestic demand and it needs to continue importing from Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
Pabalja stated that the trade situation between the two sides has been good this year. From March 21 to June 21, 2025, Iran's imports and exports to Kazakhstan were 9 million US dollars and 53 million US dollars respectively, both increasing year-on-year. The main traded goods include sunflower seeds, corn, barley, livestock products, etc.
