ORLEN's New Strategy Puts Poland At The Forefront Of Energy Transition

Orlen's 2035 strategy prioritizes asset decarbonization and energy transition while building a sustainable asset portfolio. The plan is the most extensive investment program in the history of the Polish energy industry. The cornerstones of ORLEN's new strategy, released on January 9, include energy security, modernization, environmental management and product innovation.

The plan, called "Energy for Tomorrow Starts Today," is the most ambitious and comprehensive growth plan in the company's history. Key goals include expanding gas production, building four offshore wind farms, developing large energy storage facilities, and delivering at least two small modular nuclear reactors.

"ORLEN is committed to increasing the energy independence of the Polish and regional economies. Our goal is to be secure, competitive and modern. To achieve this, we are implementing the largest growth program in the history of Polish energy, with investments of up to PLN 380 billion. This ambitious but responsible strategy reflects our dedication to our customers and all Poles. Our industry still has a long way to go and we believe that this decade is a critical moment for the energy industry. That is why we are accelerating our efforts," said Ireneusz Fąfara, Chairman of the ORLEN Management Board, when the new strategy was unveiled.

"At the same time, we are accelerating the integration of the ORLEN Group of companies. We are embedding strong corporate governance principles and implementing modern, transparent management practices. By optimizing projects and processes, we aim to steadily increase the ORLEN Group's value for shareholders," he added.

ORLEN's strategy focuses on delivering benefits to customers through substantial investments and modernization efforts. The company's goal is to make energy more affordable. The company plans to expand its VITAY loyalty program to attract up to 10 million customers, offering an integrated energy purchasing ecosystem for residential and transportation needs.

By 2035, ORLEN is committed to ensuring that zero-emission energy accounts for more than 25% of its energy mix. The strategy aims to meet Poland's domestic demand for 27 billion cubic meters of natural gas through increased production and strategic contracts. The planned gas-fired power generation capacity is 4.3 GW, enough to power 7.5 million homes, while 1.4 GW of energy storage capacity is also planned.

In addition, ORLEN will increase its recycling capacity from 35,000 to 250,000 tons per year and develop four offshore wind farms and at least two small modular reactors. Renewable and circular raw materials products are expected to account for 10% of petrochemical sales by 2035.

The strategy also includes a progressive dividend policy, which guarantees that the dividend will increase from 4.3 PLN per share in 2025 to 4.5 PLN per share and increase annually thereafter. The Management Board may recommend a dividend increase of up to 25% of annual operating cash flow after deducting financing costs.
