According to the Dawn News, Türkiye's LNG import in January 2026 reached a record 2.657 million tons, up 27.4% year on year. Algeria exported 349000 tons, ranking second among Turkish LNG suppliers with a year-on-year growth of 9%, second only to the United States with 1.867 million tons. Mauritania ranks third with 111000 tons.
Türkiye has imported more than 2 million tons in a single month for the third consecutive month, more than 2.5 times higher than the average monthly import of 1.02 million tons in 2025. The demand in winter is significantly driven. Import 12.22 million tons for the whole year of 2025.
In terms of supporting facilities, Türkiye's regasification capacity will increase to 161 million m3/day, and it is planned to increase to 200 million m3/day in 2026; Local gas production exceeds 22 million cubic meters per day, covering 42% of residential and 63% of industrial demand. During the same period, Nigeria's exports to Turkey decreased to 75000 tons, while Egypt and Angola's share rebounded.
