G20 Leaders: Triple Global Renewable Energy Capacity By 2030

On November 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official website learned that the leaders of the Group of Twenty (G20) met in Rio de Janeiro from November 18 to 19, 2024, and issued the Declaration of the Rio Summit of the Group of Twenty (G20).

The Declaration pointed out that in order to achieve cooperative results, the chair country Brazil has identified three priority areas for the work of the G20 in 2024: social inclusion and the fight against hunger and poverty, sustainable development, energy transformation and climate action, and reform of global governance institutions.

At the same time, support efforts to triple global renewable energy installed capacity and double the global average annual energy efficiency improvement rate by 2030 through existing goals and policies and based on national conditions, and support the implementation of other zero-emission and low-emission technologies by 2030, including carbon reduction and removal technologies. Gradually cancel and regulate inefficient fossil fuel subsidies that encourage waste. Support sustainable and responsible supply chains for key raw materials, semiconductors and technologies.
